On Tuesday November 8th, the world was left baffled after Donald Trump was declared the new president of the United States of America. Donald Trump’s win was one of the most dramatic and surprising comebacks in the history of the United States. Many celebrities were quick to voice their displeasure on the turn in events, especially those who were #withher.
Ariana Grande : “I am in tears”
Ariana Grande expressed what many were feeling as the election results rolled in: shock and disappointment. Grande had been a supporter of Hillary Clinton from the beginning since she endorsed Clinton when she first decided to run for the oval office.
John Legend, and his wife Chrissy Teigen, have constantly been known to get into twitter fights with the new president-elect, Donald Trump. The singer openly displayed his disgust at the turn in events, reminding everyone of Trump’s unsuccessful attempts to start a university.
Rashida Jones, an actress famous for her role in Parks and Recreations, would not accept the new president-elect Donald Trump as HER president. She tweeted out the hashtags #notmypresident and #nevermypresident, which unsurprisingly were trending on Twitter the night of the election.
The actor was openly ashamed for his country, which has come to be a laughing matter for other nations. Many were disappointed over the appointment of Trump as their president, due to his racist and sexist behaviour. Evans was not alone in calling the future president a bully.
Trevor Noah : “5 steps forward. 10 steps back.”
Noah, the host of the Daily Show, shared the common fear of losing USA’s progress in becoming one of the strongest nations in the world. The election of a man who did not support many modern ideals wasn’t very heart-warming to many.
Though the election results from Tuesday night “trumped” many dreams and desires, Hollywood made sure to remind everyone to give the president-elect a chance to do his job as the head of one of the most powerful countries in the world. Who knows, Donald Trump may go down as one of the greatest leaders in the world.
