The varsity girls basketball team started their season five weeks ago and have played up to 5 games so far. Their most recent home game on Monday, October 16, was an unfortunate loss of of 20-26. The girls have faced vigorous opponents such as Thornhill Secondary School, and proved their strength and power with a victorious score of 48-44. They have also faced other tenacious teams like Richmond Green Secondary School, Markham District, and Thornlea Secondary School, all of which proved to be undefeatable.
The girls were upset about the losses and felt as if they could’ve done better. Jana Aghili, one of the players on the team who plays centre, commented, “ There is definitely a lot of room for improvement and we have been committed to working hard every practice to do so.” Renee Chan, another player on the team who plays shooting guard and small forward, mentioned, “ There is a lot of young talent on the team and I believe that with tenacity, determination, and further development, we will do better in our next game.”
