Detroit Red Wings forward David Perron has been suspended 6 games for his action in a game against the Ottawa Senators. Perron cross checked defenseman Artem Zub in the head which occurred after an incident that left Red Wings Capitan, Dylan Larkin, lying passed out on the ice.

Do you want an opportunity to skip class and watch a fun sports game instead? Well, look no further than SAC’s hockey and basketball buyouts! On December 13th STR’s Senior Boys basketball team played Richmond Hill Secondary School’s team. They won against them 52-49 and moved on to the next rounds. More importantly, students had an opportunity to pay $2 and skip class to watch the game, which led to a massive turnout. A couple of days after announcing the basketball buyout, SAC announced another buyout, the hockey buyout. Students could pay $5 to get transportation to a hockey game at Clathworthy Arena, free skate afterwards, and enjoy complimentary hot cocoa. It sounds too good to be true if you ask me. I hope you got to attend at least one of those and enjoyed the class-free afternoon.

The St. Robert CHS Boys Hockey Team recently kicked off their season with four successive games against teams across York Region. They’ve stormed into the season with a series of resounding matches, both victories and losses, showcasing their prowess on the ice.
Just a while back St. Robert was congratulating the lady Rams for being back on ice and winning their first game of the season. As the season came to an end this past week, the ladies were granted fourth place in the YRAA tier 2 south division.
Though there were many spirited teams throughout the league, the lady Rams pulled through scoring a total of 34 goals this season; that’s good for 3rd overall in the south loop. Unfortunately, the goals only accounted for 1 win, 2 ties, and 5 losses. “It’s not always about winning, sometimes losing teaches a lot more than winning.” -Lyrikal
Alas, we still congratulate the lady Rams as they overcame obstacles along the way and grew into a tight-knit family. Despite not having a goalie, Grace C(12) and Victoria C(10) volunteered giving it their all allowing the team to succeed. We take the time to congratulate Christina C(12) for not only helping lead the team to victory, but for scoring a personal best 26 goals for St.Robert, and thus, setting a school record in the process.

Winter is fast approaching and hockey arenas are filling up as St. Robert welcomes the lady Rams back onto the ice for the first time in three years. It was the Rams who recently took their season opener 7-2 versus Father Bressani on November 10, 2015 at RJ Clatworthy Arena.
The lady Rams were off to a speedy start as veteran player Christina C. (12) scored three quick goals to get the team motivated with assists from Paris N. (9). The team stayed on top leading 3-0 into the third period thanks to goaltender Grace C. (12) who stopped 20 shots along with two breakaways. Coach Mr. Zavagno encouraged the team to “work hard, don’t give up, and have fun,” as Father Bressani came back to redeem themselves with two goals in the third period. However, the Rams were always one step ahead as Kira E. (12) and Katherine D. (11) replied with two crucial goals leading the Rams 5-2.
