May 19, 2018, marked a historical day for the entire world as the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took place in Windsor Castle with the whole world watching live. The royal family had never seen a couple like Harry and Meghan and neither had the media.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got married in the afternoon (BST) of March 19, 2018. They then received the titles Duchess and Duke of Sussex. The marriage of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry was an incredibly historic and controversial event. Their marriage was the first of its kind as Meghan Markle is of mixed-race and she was a divorced woman. In addition, Meghan Markle is a known actress and a vocal activist. The royal family had never included anyone like her before.
Unfortunately, due to the significance that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s marriage would have, Meghan was constantly shaded by social media and the British media. While Kate Middleton received much criticism for her outfits and her relationship with Prince William, Meghan would be criticized for another factor; her ethnicity. Meghan was bashed for being a black woman, being divorced and her financial history in addition to her outfits. Many British media outlets had clear biases against Meghan whereas their articles regarding Kate are less scathing. Entering the royal family without public scrutiny has always proved to be impossible since all people are watching, waiting for a mistake or possible scandal to discuss and defame. Kate Middleton was scrutinized for her clothing choices, but Meghan Markle has so many more factors that make her vulnerable to attacks.

Meghan and Harry discussed their exit from the royal family and all the factors that lead them to that decision. Overall, the internet was buzzing with gossip about the royal family, discussing what should’ve been done and what should be done in the future.
Meghan and Harry’s future is now somewhat unclear but, they have mentioned making deals with entertainment companies such as Netflix and Spotify. As for what the royal family plans to do about the current situation regarding Harry and Meghan’s comments, has yet to be revealed.
