iCarly, a beloved childhood TV series that broadcasted from the years 2007 to 2012, has announced a reboot to be released in late 2021.

The Nickelodeon series had been much loved during its time, going on for six seasons and totaling ninety-seven episodes. Famous figures, Michelle Obama and Emma Stone, have also made appearances in the show as guest stars, and the series has received nominations for both the Emmy awards and the Annual Kids’ Choice Awards.

The original series had portrayed the journey of young teenagers navigating their viral webcast, and current developer Paramount+ has announced changes in the upcoming plot. Trailers and plot details have yet to be released to the public, though it is reported that the reboot will fit around ten years after the series’ original timeline. The reboot has also been announced to appeal to an older audience, allowing for more mature and complex storylines while also reportedly keeping the original series’ beloved humour. Head producer Jay Kogen tweeted excitedly, “People were asking what I was doing. Now I can tell you. We get to make iCarly for ADULTS!”

The announcement for the reboot has been met with much excitement, and social media was alight with many eager iCarly fans as soon as the reboot was announced. Fans were also delighted to hear that the reboot would include members of the original cast, including stars, Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress, and Jerry Trainor. However, previous co-stars, including Jennette McCurdy and Noah Munck, have yet to commit to returning to the series. 

Throughout the years, iCarly has remained a nostalgic fan favourite, and many are excited to see it come back to life. We await to see whether this second iCarly can match the original hype!
