The COVID-19 pandemic has had dire consequences for the world and has caused us to re-evaluate how we operate our healthcare systems, and how much they can handle before cracking under the pressure. It has affected all parts of human life, specifically businesses and how they are run and will be run in the future.
As businesses reopen they are all faced with the question of what should be prioritize: returning to full productivity, or focusing more on safety measures and making sure workers are safe. On one side there is the argument that cases have reduced and we should be trying to get back to normal as we can’t stay in the state of constant back and forth quarantine, but this fails to acknowledge the other side of the argument which says that the safety measures should be prioritized as it has been showed that every time businesses reopened cases have increased; this side also focuses more on the long term success of businesses.
Although getting back to full productivity seems like it should be a priority for all businesses especially small ones, let’s not forget that there is still a pandemic going on and in the long term it would be smarter for all businesses in the long term to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.
