Mindfulness Club: Where You Can Relax And Have Fun At The Same Time

Caitlyn Kerr (9) | STAFF REPORTER

Hello Saint Roberts! After I went to the club fair held a few weeks ago, a club that intrigued me was the Mindfulness Club. Their goal is to help improve student’s mental health all throughout this school.

They hold meetings every week on Thursday from 2:45 to 3:30 in room 119. The club members plan relaxing activities for future events. You are able to give ideas and learn about new ways to cope with stress and anxiety. Even if you are a part of the club, you can still take part in the relaxation events. I think that’s great because everyone should step away from anything that puts them under a lot of distress.

Something I love is that the meetings are drop in sessions. They understand that you may have a lot of homework to finish which might make it hard for you to take part once a week. Meaning, you can come anytime you would like!

The activities that you are able to participate in come quite often. A couple weeks ago on November 6th, the Mindfulness Club organized a study cafe in the library. They brought snacks and drinks like chips, cinnamon rolls, juices and granola bars for the people there to enjoy. This created a calm environment where people were able to study with friends as well as focus on completing their work. Last year, they had sessions for therapy dogs, rock painting, slime making and more.

I have many friends who love the Mindfulness Club and highly recommend it for all of you! I will definitely be participating in upcoming events from this club because I love what they stand for and their creative ideas to flush all the negativity out of the brain. If you want to stay updated with the club’s events, follow their instagram: @mindful.str. That’s all from me today, hope to see you back here soon!
