In preparation for the holidays, St. Robert students hosted a series of festive events throughout the month of December. Here’s a quick rundown of a few of them!
On December 6, 9, and 10, the French Council held a Christmas card sale outside the cafeteria, where students were able to purchase a decorated card for just $1.50, or take advantage of a great deal—three cards for $4. Each card came with a candy cane, but the best part? Every purchase also earned an entry into a raffle for a Squishmallow! At the end of their event, all proceeds went to Holiday Heroes, a charity dedicated to sending gifts to children in need during the holiday season. How utterly heartwarming.
But what about the other councils? They all teamed up to present 12 days of festive activities, including everything from airbrush tattoos with the Art Council to crystal ornaments with STEAM Council. STUCO in particular sold candy grams, which became a hit with students. For just $1 each, or five for $3, students could send their friends a candy cane treat alongside a message. These candy grams were distributed to homerooms on December 19, which served a great way to end the year.
On December 11, the school’s music cohort hosted a Christmas Concert, which featured performances by the concert bands, orchestra, jazz band, and choir. Tickets were available for purchase through the music department, and even if you didn’t exactly have a propensity for music, any volunteers were encouraged to sign up through Mrs. Facchini to help out with the event.
Another highlight was Christmas karaoke, which took place during all three lunches in the cafeteria, hosted by our dearest religion department head. Students were invited to sing their favourite holiday songs and enjoy their time with friends. With the whole school joining in the celebration, it was certainly a memorable event for everyone.
With so many events throughout the month, the school has definitely embraced the holiday spirit. Whether it was through music, art, or charity, the spirit of Christmas filled our halls, making this season one to remember!
