On January 5, the 82nd Golden Globes was held and hosted by Nikki Glaser. Not only was it the number one broadcasted special over the past twelve months, but it was also viewed by over ten million people. This award ceremony nominated various actors and films, ranging from the actors in Wicked to those in The Brutalist. The following are five of the rewards given out during the Golden Globes, as well as their winners and nominees:
- The Award for the Best Motion Picture- Drama was awarded to Brutalist, and those nominated were as follows: A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, Nickel Boys, September 5, and Brutalist.
- The Best Motion Picture- Animated was awarded to Flow, and those nominated were as follows: Flow, Inside Out 2, Memoir of a Snail, Moana 2, The Wild Robot, and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.
- The Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture- Drama was awarded to Fernanda Torres for her performance in I’m Still Here. Other nominees included Angelina Jolie for her character in Maria and Nicole Kidman for her part in Babygirl.
- The Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture- Musical or Comedy was awarded to Sebastian Stan for his performance in A Different Man. Other nominees included Hugh Grant for Heretic and Glen Powell for Hit Man.
- The Cinematic and Box Office Achievement was awarded to Wicked. The nominated films were as follows: Inside Out 2, The Wild Robot, Gladiator II, Twisters, Deadpool & Wolverine, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Wicked, and Alien: Romulus.
These are only a few of the awards. Other nominees include Selena Gomez for her supporting character in Emilia Pérez, Ariana Grande for her supporting role in Wicked, Timothée Chalamet for his performance in A Complete Unknown, and Zendaya for her part in Challengers.
