Hi Rams! Coming up very soon are the Student Council Elections, a yearly event allowing you to vote for various roles and people for the next school year. The positions up for election are president, senior VP, junior VP, info officer, media officer, grade representatives, equity & diversity officer and school spirit officer. The voting will be held on May 12 to 13 and every role except grade representatives must give a speech in front of the grade elevens, tens and nines. You can only vote for one person for every position but it is different for grade representatives. You can only vote for your grade representative, for example I will be voting for our next grade 10 rep because I will be in grade 10 during the 2025 to 2026 school year. Also, you can also vote for two people for the academic grade reps but only one candidate can be chosen for the IB rep.
The President is the most important role in this council. Nicholas Hatvani is one of the candidates, Ronan Chin is the second and Matros is the third.
For equity, the candidates are Victor Shi currently in grade nine, Jennie and Dylan Wong.
There are a lot of grade representatives who are in the running. For grade 11 reps there are Melissa Lee, Megan Wen, Elina and David Wen. Grade 10 rep run ups are Kiyan Chiu-Nagjafi, Caitlyn Kerr and Adrianna. Suhani Joshi, Benjamin Yan and Kadia are the IB candidates. Both Benjamin and Kiyan were grade reps during their ninth year.
Subin Park and Ethan Zhu are running for Junior VP. While Raya, Ahoora and Radman Senior VP.
For spirit officer, you either vote Abby Dugauthier, Sabrina Wang or Anderson Chang.
Lastly, Cadence Leung and Zoe Yu are against each other for the role of communication officer.
You can follow almost all these people on their main Instagram or a new created account just for STUCO! Make sure to check everyone out as they are all very active with campaigning. All these people deserve to be in the running and I am very excited to see who gets elected for each position. Remember to make up your mind by May 13. Again, you will watch each person’s speech to wait for those as well. I apologize if I forget anyone who is running and good luck to all! Happy voting, Saint Roberts.
