Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is a short 12-episode romantic comedy series concerning a female high school student called Chiyo Sakura. She falls in love with her classmate, Umetarou Nozaki, but a simple misunderstanding between them ends up with her becoming his personal manga assistant. Fun times ensue and more romantically troubled students join the story.
This show is something I would recommend to people new and experienced with anime. At first it seems like a cheesy, stereotypical high school series but it develops into something far more than that. It makes fun of all those stereotypes and takes a unique approach toward high school romance- one that is not taken very often, if at all.

The best thing about this anime are the characters. None of them are similar to one another, and furthermore, none of them are ‘ideal’ protagonists. In fact, they all have some sort of inherent fault, whether it be a lack of awareness, an inability to communicate effectively, or even just their absurdly spontaneous actions. Of course, these quirks make each episode enjoyable and I found myself laughing along despite my all-too-common emotionless reactions.
Though, that is not to say that all people will definitely enjoy this series. Of course, if you find school-oriented anime boring then this probably isn’t for you. However, if you’re looking to take a break from life or watch a good comedy, then this is it. Personally, this anime is my favourite of the season, but I’d only give this 2 out of 3 stars simply because it is not a ‘must-watch’ series.
