Beijing 2018 Summer Camp

Justin Yu (9) – STAFF REPORTER

From July 30 to August 8, I attended a Beijing summer camp which was full of people from all around the world. There were people from Japan, Canada, the United States, and even Ireland. We went to places like the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, the Water Cube, and many other places.

The Beijing summer camp had many sightseeing opportunities, such as the Great Wall of China, a historical monument built for defending China against the enemies North; the Forbidden City, a palace where we got to visit and see what it looked like for a king back in ancient times; and the Water Cube where the Olympics in the water were held.

Some activities that we did were tedious but fun. For example, we ran around campus finding objects and once scanned, it would emit a beeping sound telling you it was right. It was a great game for orienting yourself to the campus, as well as practicing your communication skills with others and having a great time.

For the most part, the camp was fun. Not all the sightseeing was interesting, but it was a great place to make new friends and to improve your communications skills in two languages: Mandarin and English. I had a great time listening to performances and having fun along the way.
