Due to the diverse chemicals used in cosmetics, the experimentation can leave animals with serious eye and skin damage among other consequences. This has however come under serious controversy as more realize that the implications of animal testing do not justify the innovation in cosmetics. According to a national poll by The Strategic Council, 88% of Canadians are against animal experimentation for cosmetics.
Fortunately, alternatives to animal testing are being developed and used in the world, from tissue cultures to computer models that become more accurate with time.
