Kawhi Leonard’s move to Toronto has been causing a stir with Raptors fans being either ecstatic about the move or extremely unhappy.
One of the reasons certain fans are so happy is because Leonard may be the best franchise player the Raptors have had to date. Leonard is an extremely talented player, his awards and trophies include winning the 2013-14 NBA finals as well as winning Finals MVP, making the all-star team twice and winning defensive player of the year twice. He has many other accomplishments as well, so he certainly is not lacking in silverware.
On the other hand, Leonard may not have been the greatest choice for the Raptors as his last season was a rather shaky one. Last season, he suffered a leg injury, and the team’s doctor had differing opinions with that of Kawhi’s team. Leonard’s representatives kept interfering and the situation was handled so poorly that it caused tension between Leonard and the team.
On top of all this, the Raptors traded away Demar DeRozan for Leonard, who was considered one of the team’s best and most loyal player. Many, including DeRozan himself, were angry with how the franchise treated Derozan’s loyalty.
All in all, the best way to determine how Kawhi Leonard will do this season is by waiting and watching, and so far Leonard seems to be happy with the move. Only time will tell.
