The big day was tomorrow. After long hours and nights of studying, Charlotte was not ready to give up. It had been one of the most challenging university courses she had ever taken and the workload was even tougher. Since it was always her dream to study at this campus as a child, she was happy she could live out her dream. No matter how challenging the obstacles were, Charlotte was determined to exceed the expectations she set for herself.

Just then, she got a call on her cellphone. It was from her aunt who ran the local town coffee shop. Charlotte would work there during the weekends as she was saving up for after post-secondary. She answered the phone.

“Hello?”

“Oh my gosh! Thank goodness you picked up,” exclaimed Charlotte’s aunt.

“I need you to come to the coffee shop for two hours since one of my best employees can’t make it today! The shop is super busy and the others will be leaving soon. Please help me out?”

Charlotte sighed. “ I guess a few hours won’t be too bad.”

“Thank you so much! Talk soon!”

After hanging up the phone, Charlotte took her coat and bag and approached the bus station near her apartment. She waited for a while until five minutes turned into thirty. Finally, the bus had arrived. What a relief!

By the time she got to the coffee shop, it truly was packed. The promotion that her aunt setup was really doing wonders! Charlotte quickly went behind the counter, grabbed an apron and began to work on the orders. Her aunt was also bustling around the shop as the line grew and grew! The other workers coming in were doing their best but it wasn’t enough to maintain this crazy crowd.

After an hour or so of working, Charlotte realized that there was a commotion near the back of the shop. A woman had her laptop stolen when she went to the restroom. Her aunt called the police and they said none of the employees were to leave. Great! Now she wouldn’t get back home on time at this rate. Eventually, the police arrived and they checked through the security cameras. Sadly, there was nothing they could do. That’s when Charlotte realized the time. 8 pm! She had to leave. Anxiously, she explained the situation to her aunt and she left swiftly.
