Through the week of May 5-11, our school held the board wide education week! Catholic education week is an annual event that celebrates the privilege and various contributions to have publicly funded catholic education. For this year’s catholic education week, the theme is “We are called to Love.”
As for our very own catholic education week, all events were planned by the Social Justice and Chaplaincy Council. Starting on Tuesday was the Rays of Hope event held in the front foyer from the Chaplaincy Council. It lasted throughout all 3 lunches, and was FREE. Free sunglasses decorating hoping to spread the rays of hope, with optional polaroids for $2 as well! Next was the bake sale, my personal favourite, on Wednesday May the 7th. A collaboration between the Chaplaincy Council and Baking Club, they brought us stained glass angel shaped cookies, ice cream cone cupcakes, and matcha cookies, all for $2! They were sold outside the chaplaincy office during all three lunches, and all proceeds go towards our Sharelife day! Next we’re switching gears into the Social Justice Council, beginning with a matching game on Thursday! Students could scan a QR code outside the cafeteria, and complete a google form matching names to pictures shown on the board. The first player to fill out the quiz correctly wins the candy prize! Last but not least is the Kahoot held on Friday, it was hosted in the cafeteria, and the theme was catholic figures. Once again, there were candy prizes, but not just for the winner, for the runner ups as well! That was everything that happened during catholic education week, I hope you all enjoyed them, and until next time!
