The Juno Awards, or the Junos, are awards presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to recognize outstanding achievements in Canada’s music industry. The American equivalent are the Grammys. The Junos and the Canadian Screen Awards are considered to be one of the main annual Canadian entertainment award shows, with new members of the Canadian Hall of Fame making appearances as well.

Global superstar, Jennie of BLACKPINK, released her first debut solo album on March 7, 2025, entitled Ruby after departing from YG Entertainment and Interscope Records in 2023. Jennie wrote and co-produced Ruby with a large range of collaborators, including Doechii, Dua Lipa, Kali Uchis, and more. The album revolves around Jennie’s relationships, influence and success, and explores music genres such as pop, hip-hop, and R&B. Ruby is supported by five singles, Mantra, Love Hangover, ExtraL, Like Jennie, and Handlebars, all successfully reaching high placements on the Billboard Global 200, Circle Digital Chart, Billboard Hot 100, and more.

HBO’s The White Lotus returned for its highly anticipated third season on February 16, 2025, consisting of 8 episodes and following the lives of the wealthy guests and staff at a luxurious, wellness resort in Thailand. The new season expands on themes of wealth, spirituality, and power dynamics, as creator Mike White wanted to invoke a “satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality”.

Legendary singer Roberta Flack, known for her timeless, iconic songs like The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and Killing Me Softly with His Song, passed away on February 24, 2025, from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALC) and eventually cardiac arrest, at the age of 88. A classically trained pianist turned R&B and jazz musician, Flack’s soulful voice earned her multiple Grammy Awards and a lasting impact on music history.

Auston Matthews is back in action for the Maple Leafs after missing six games with an upper-body injury. The undisclosed injury, which first kept him out in November, flared up again on December 20, forcing him to take another break.

The Nutcracker, a two-act classical ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, is one of the most cherished holiday traditions worldwide. It is beloved for its magical storytelling, Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score, and the ability to evolve and adapt across generations of performers.

Rosé, a beloved member of BLACKPINK, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, has once again captivated fans with the release of Number One Girl. This heart-wrenching ballad is the second single from her highly anticipated solo album, Rosie, following the record-breaking success of her debut single, APT., which charted in the Billboard Top 10 at number 8 – a first for a Korean female soloist.

Fans of the beloved 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West,and the Broadway musical Wicked have been eagerly awaiting their screen adaptation, and on November 3, Wicked: Part One finally made its highly anticipated debut. Set long before Dorothy Gale’s time and following the backstories of two young witches, Elphaba and Glinda, the film allows audiences to witness their journey(s) that caused them to ultimately become the magical land of Oz’s most famous witches.
