On Monday, December 14th, 2020, the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were distributed in Canada. Monday was dubbed “V-day” by some, commemorating this new phase in the ongoing fight against the coronavirus. A total of 30,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine were shipped to Canada from Europe over the weekend and will be distributed over the course of the week. The vaccine will be distributed through a prioritization system, staff and residents of long-term care homes, as well as frontline health care staff treating COVID-19 patients, receiving the first doses.
