Baking, Bonding, and Building: STR’S Café Club!

Melanie Lau (10) | STAFF REPORTER

Café Club is the perfect place to go every other Friday to connect with other students and explore your creativity in the kitchen! So far, several workshops and bake sales have been held by the club run by Grade 10 students Isabel and Diep.

This Halloween, Café Club hosted a Pumpkin Cake Bake Sale outside the cafeteria. Exec members sold pumpkin spice cakes molded into miniature pumpkins to emulate the taste. The event ended up being an immense success, with over 50 being sold! Proceeds are looking to go to Kocihta, one of only six national Indigenous charities in Canada helping to resolve the Indigenous education and employment gap.

Another highlight of the semester was the Mochi Waffle Workshop, where 20 people were able to sign up and learn how to make this dessert. It was a fantastic hands-on experience that allowed everyone to connect while making something delicious.

In the near future, the club is hosting a collaboration with GRL PWR on December 20. Members of both clubs will be building gingerbread houses in Room 152, serving as an incredibly sweet way to finish the year.

So, if you’re looking for a way to make Fridays more interesting and meet some like-minded people, be sure to join Café Club at their next meeting. Hope to see you there!
