This prompt was inspired by Halloween. Influenced by the day full of spirits (pun intended), our artists had come up with their own creative interpretation of the word “Spirit”. Several artists also resolved to create music pieces for this event. Enjoy!

Hope and Strength
This prompt was inspired by Remembrance Day on November 11th, when we come together to remember those who have striven for our safety and freedom, regardless of the obstacles and risks in front of them. We have been through a lot of Since the beginning of time, ups and downs in our life; and what brings us together and motivates us to continue this journey is our hope in the future. From that hope, we gain strength; and with strength, what obstacles can we not conquer?
Silence
This prompt was inspired by Anti-bullying week. Silence is not a sign a defeat, but a sign of protest. Silence is the best way to let someone know that Most people are not even aware that they did wrong. There is an immense power and a great message in silence. Here our artists show us what they sense in silence.

Arts Week Photography Contest Winner!
In celebration of Arts Week, the Axiom hosted a photography contest based on the prompt of “self-expression through art.” Submissions came in from students of all grades and they were absolutely incredible. However, there is certainly one that best reflected the prompt and it was Linda R-C’s stunning photograph of an art piece contrasted to city buildings in the background. It undoubtedly captures the prompt while demonstrating her talent as a photographer!
Arts Week Contest Winner
To celebrate Arts Week which took place from February 17th to the 20th, the Axiom hosted an art contest with the prompt “art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life”. There were many great submissions, but the piece that best reflected the prompt was Carlos Chin’s “Titania’s Dusk”. Not only does this piece have a very interesting composition with many bold colours and a nice use of contrast, it captures the significance of the prompt as one can almost feel themselves transported from a mundane world to one that is much more fascinating and surreal through this drawing. Congratulations to Carlos Chin! See Mr. Fabroa in room 247 to pick up your prize. Thank you to all the participants for submitting their art pieces to the newspaper!
