Cope With Stress: Therapy Dogs

Gloria Yang (10) | STAFF REPORTER

Sometimes, school can be a lot, especially with all the assignments students have to complete, and all the tests we have to study for. As a result of this, many students have trouble balancing their personal well-being and school work. Especially at St. Robert CHS, many students decide to focus on their academics, often neglecting their own needs. Students are often very stressed and tired, with very little time for breaks.

The mindfulness club here at St. Robert is dedicated to helping students with their mental health and wellbeing. Throughout the year, the mindfulness club hosts events for students to manage their stress, and workload. One of these events is therapy dogs! During lunch, students can go to the library to meet, and pet cute dogs. This helps to relieve stress, and is especially helpful during exam season. Therapy dogs is a free event for students, and is a drop-in event, meaning students can go whenever they want.

Depending on the time of the year, there can be several students lining up for therapy dogs. Because of this, many students won’t get a chance to see the dogs. However, this year, the mindfulness club decided to split therapy dogs by grade. This means that there will be a different day for each grade to visit the therapy dogs.

If you’re ever stressed out, or feeling overwhelmed, a good way to cope is to participate in mindfulness’ therapy dog event! This event happens a few times each semester, and is announced during the daily announcements.
