The Christmas spirit is defrosting, malls are being painted with red and green, radios are playing “All I Want for Christmas is You”, and people are preparing their gifts for this time of year! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.
Of course, it is not a complete Christmas without the beloved movies we rewatch every year. Movies such as “Home Alone” or “Elf” are family favourites, especially “Home Alone”, which is truly a classic. “Home Alone” tells the story of a young eight year old boy named Kevin, who is left home alone when his family mistakenly leaves him at home after leaving for the airport. He fends the house from two robbers after realizing it was being targeted.
“Home Alone” is one of the classics along with The Polar Express, Love Actually, and The Nightmare before Christmas (although some could argue it’s a Halloween movie instead.) It is loved by millions of people and there are many reasons that this title is given to this movie.
One of the multiple reasons why this movie is so loved is due to its target audience. Christmas movies are mainly catered towards children, leaving adults with few enjoyable Christmas movies. However, Home Alone is different since its comedic moments and witty comebacks can entertain the entire family. Therefore, watching an easy and relaxing movie like Home Alone is perfect. It does not take itself too seriously, and the vibe is bright.
Although there are plenty of other Christmas movies to watch every year, it really does feel like Home Alone is the best. From its witty humour to its target audience, it is a wonderful movie for the entire family to watch.
