In the library after school on Friday January 11th, the first annual Mario Kart tournament was held to help fundraise for new technology at school. St. Robert CHS STEM council carried out the event and it was a fun way to spend an afternoon with friends, as well as raising money for a good cause.
There were four separate consoles set up around the room to allow the tournament to run as smoothly as possible. Although it took quite a bit of time to set up, the arrangement proved crucial to complete two double elimination brackets in the limited time available.
Tickets to the event were three dollars (with some opting to buy pizza for an extra two) and an assortment of snacks was provided for the participants.
Although the event has already passed, many students are looking forward to see what the STEM council has yet to offer. As I interviewed Muriel Wang (9), she confirmed that “Yes, I would be interested”.
