Despite securing his third consecutive Formula One championship almost two months ago during the Qatar Grand Prix, Max Verstappen never once considered taking it easy. His relentless drive led him to victory in every subsequent race, culminating in an exceptional year marked by a record-breaking 19th win of the season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this past Sunday.
In Abu Dhabi, Verstappen triumphed over Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ George Russell, and also securing an extra point for the fastest lap. This victory propelled him ahead of former Red Bull legend Sebastian Vettel, leaving only Michael Schumacher (91) and Lewis Hamilton (103) with more wins to their names.
This season, Red Bull dominated with an impressive 21 out of 22 victories, with Sergio Perez contributing two wins to their remarkable tally.
“What an incredible year,” Verstappen said after crossing the line. “It was a bit emotional on the in-lap.”
