Welcome back students and staff to the new school year. It’s safe to say that the 2014-2015 school year started off with a bang. Excited chatter was overheard as friends were reunited and the new grade nines acclimated to the new school environment.

Grade Nine Wild West Dance
On Friday September 26th our school hosted the very first dance of the year, only for ninth graders!
It was a fun and exciting night as we dressed up to the Wild West theme and hung out with our friends. After a day of meeting new people at Camp Robin Hood , the dance gave us the chance to get to know everyone a little more. What better way to have fun and improve our friendships than by having a school dance? By the end of the night, everyone headed home with big smiles on their faces knowing that they weren’t alone in this giant school community.
Student Council Works Hard For You!
ROOM 118 is where all the magic happens. One of the most influential councils present at St. Robert is the Student Council. Composed of students and teachers, they devote a long period of time every Monday after school to bring events together for the student body.
Pearson’s Not Flying High with Travellers
We’ve all had our share of problems with airports, whether it be rowdy neighbours, loud babies, air sickness, or irritable security officers. And maybe it’s just been our bad luck that we Torontonians are cursed with having to use one of the worst airports in North America – Lester B. Pearson Airport. Perhaps we can sympathize with the fact that it will undoubtedly be plagued with problems with it having the greatest level of people traffic in Canada; however, we travellers expect more from our city.
Social Justice’s Global Outreach
As part of a Catholic community, St. Robert always strives to give back to those in need and one of the many clubs that helps make this possible is Social Justice, which has been part of the school community for many years. Its goal this year is to partner with Free the Children and Me-to-We to build yet another school as part of the Adopt-A-Village program. Social Justice continues to make a great impact on the school community as it brings awareness to global issues and encourages the school staff and students to participate in fundraisers and volunteering opportunities. For the month of October, Social Justice started a “We Scare Hunger” food drive for Halloween. It is small acts like these that go a long way to better the life of families in need. As said by Amanda F. (12), the Social justice President,
Have Time to Spare? Looking for a Bite? Try These Places
It’s no mystery that the school of St. Robert is located in the middle of nowhere – much akin to the Sahara Desert or the North Pole. As such, students rarely get to experience life outside of school walls during school hours, with the opportunity to eat elsewhere being few and far between. Sadly, these conditions are unlikely to be remedied in a timely fashion. However, for the students who are lucky enough to have a spare (or for those who just walk really fast), there exists a healthy number of alternatives to the cafeteria – only a twenty minute walk away.
