Some big Canadian music names are gearing up for the NHL all-star game on February third. Justin Bieber, Tate McRae, and Michael Bublé are going to be team captains. Bieber’s leading team ‘Matthews,’ named after Auston Matthews from the Toronto Maple Leafs, and his fashion label Drew House designed the cool all-star jerseys. McRae, who had a hockey-themed music video for her hit “Greedy,” is captaining team MacKinnon with Nathan MacKinnon from the Colorado Avalanche. read more

Are “Scientific” Personality Tests Just Science-Fiction?

If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past few years, you’ve likely heard of the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) personality test. The concept is simple: you answer a couple of questions on a scale from “Strongly Agree” to “Strongly Disagree,” and – based on your responses – you’re assigned one of sixteen personality types. Each personality type has four components: Introverted versus Extraverted, Sensing versus iNtuition, Thinking versus Feeling, and Judging versus Perceiving, and whichever ones you more closely align with inform your personality. Due Tomorrow, Do Tomorrow; How Social Media Plays a Role in Procrastination

At 9 PM, after taking a too-long nap and eating dinner, you abruptly remember you have an assignment due tomorrow. Ready to tackle it, you’re interrupted by a phone notification, leading to an hour-long chat with your friend. At 10 PM, you determine that you can finish the project in 2 hours and get a respectable amount of sleep, but then remember how frustrating it was to start it when it was assigned. Suddenly a persistent itch pulls you towards your phone again, and turning it on, a white musical note on a black background catches your eye, promising a blissful escape from your wretched assignment. Two minutes won’t hurt, you think to yourself as you open TikTok. Soon, two minutes turn into two hours and you close the app only to find that it’s midnight. Exhausted, you finally open your computer and two hours later, you submit an assignment that you -and unfortunately your teacher– will find incomprehensible with a well-rested mind. Congratulating yourself, you go on Instagram as a reward. At 3 AM, you finally find sleep, only to dream of scrolling through short form videos until the morning. read more

Bark Bites And Treats

Coco placed the wooden sign announcing “Available to host any Bark-Be-Que Nights or Paw-some Pupcake Parties” on the front doors of her cafe, allowing it to sway gently as she opened up for the day. Inside, she flicked on the lights, entered the kitchen, and began preparing a variety of treats, including peanut butter pupcakes, coconut crunch bites, and sweet potato chews. After thirty minutes of baking, she arranged the delicious offerings on separate platters in the window display. Shortly after, her co-worker Winnie arrived, and together, they crafted the daily menu, organized dishes, and set up chairs. At 8:00 am, Coco flipped the open sign, ready to welcome in customers. read more
