Although they have never stepped out of the spotlight, the lives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have once again become a topic for mass discussion by the general public. However, while some people discuss the topic with no previous prejudice, others take a different approach. More specifically, a former British news reporter named Piers Morgan.
As made clear through many previous occasions, Piers Morgan is not incredibly fond of Meghan Markle. However, this was not always the case. Piers Morgan and Meghan Markle first came into contact with one another through Twitter during the Fall of 2015. Piers had begun following Meghan and the rest of the Suits cast on Twitter and she followed him back. From that point on, began an alleged friendship between Meghan Markle and Piers Morgan.
In June of 2016, Piers Morgan tweeted about a meeting that he had with Meghan Markle, while also claiming that Meghan was lucky to have met him. The next month, Meghan Markle had begun seeing Prince Harry privately which inevitably came to the publics’ knowledge during October 2016. Around this time, Meghan was receiving a lot of hate for her relationship with Prince Harry from the general media, none of which was being sent by Piers Morgan.
Piers Morgan did, however, begin mentioning Meghan Markle more frequently. He began with an article on the British news outlet called “The Daily Mail” on November 12, 2016, where he discussed an interview that he had with Meghan Markle titled “Meghan and I chatted for 90 minutes. Long enough for me to get a good insight into the new Royal girlfriend.” The article was incredibly kind towards Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship, telling Harry to, “ignore all the poisonous rubbish you’re reading or hearing about her.”

From November 2016 to November 2017, Piers Morgan only had positive things to say about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Then in 2017, Piers Morgan’s tone began to shift and he started to say that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement had ruined his relationship with Meghan Markle.

During Meghan and Harry’s interview, many claims, that do not make the British royal family appear well, were made. On March 8, 2021, Piers Morgan specifically dismissed several of Meghan Markle’s claims saying that the interview was “disgraceful” on Good Morning Britain. Piers Morgan was angered especially due to Meghan Markle mentioning that she had had many suicidal thoughts and was denied care from the royal family’s institution. Piers Morgan was adamant when it came to dismissing Meghan Markle’s claims as a fellow colleague pointed out to Piers on March 9, 2021. Piers Morgan argued with his colleague, Alex Beresford, for a while about Piers’ critical behaviour toward Meghan and how his attitude is fueled by a personal vendetta, before storming off-set and leaving the show.
