An Event You Can’t Dodge! Dodgeball Intramurals

Want a chance to whack your friends in the head with a dodgeball and no repercussions? Look no further! Our Student Athletic Council is holding our annual dodgeball intramurals with sign ups on Valentines day! A tournament consisting of multiple teams competing to be this year’s dodgeball intramural champions! The best part of all, you get to make your own teams, so grab your buddies and head on over. However there are a few things to keep in mind, each squad has a total of seven players, and must consist of a minimum of two boys and two girls. Each team member must also sign a permission form, which you can find on the SAC board in front of the large gym. Once again, registration takes place on Valentines day, which is friday, february the 14th, make sure to make your way to the front foyer by 8:00 am. Each team must designate a team captain, who will hand in the permission forms, as well as $2 for each participant. There are limited spaces, so ensure you arrive on time, as the vacancies are first come first serve. Once you have secured a spot, look out for posts on the SAC instagram @strobertsac, as they will post the game schedules. The matches will take place in the large gym after school from 3 to 5 pm, with the date to be further determined. Ultimate Games of Ultimate Frisbee

Whoosh! Frisbees fly across the dome as players jump into the air to receive them. That’s right, Ultimate Frisbee Intramurals are back on Mondays and Thursdays and are better than ever this time around.

This year’s intramural season has come early as eager players of various skill-sets and of all grades can grab their friends and take the field. With teams consisting of eight members with a minimum of two girls, we have seen many team entries this year. On top of that, each team has also created unique names for their group, like Team Twilight, Hot Line Fling, and even Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies! What a twist to Ultimate Frisbee!

    A Dominating Performance!

    On January 9, 2015, the Ultimate Frisbee semi-finals and finals took place in the St. Robert Dome. Four teams had remained after a long and intense frisbee tournament, and in the end, the undefeated Penguins were finally rewarded for their hard work. This marks the third year in a row that this powerful Penguins team takes home the crown.

    Their first opponent was the crowd favourite Tasmanian Devils. Their touchdown celebrations and introduction music may have won the hearts of all the fans, but the Penguins were not intimidated in any way. They beat them convincingly in a 7-1 game.

    On the other side, the Whopping Wombat just managed to defeat the tough Dachshund team in a nail biting 5-4 match-up. Although they were shorthanded due to injuries, the Whopping Wombat showcased their dynamic teamwork and play-making abilities, rightfully earning them a trip to the finals.
