Reputation was widely regarded as the most anticipated albums of the year since Swift announced it’s impending release on August 23. It had twice as many pre-orders as her 2014 hit 1989 and is on track to hit 1 million sales within the first week.
Swift’s Reputation is completely different from her previous five albums. It features heavy bass and drums, slamming rhythm, an electric beat, and biting lyrics. She took a dig at Kanye West and Kim Kardashian with “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” and “Look What You Made Me Do.” Her song “Getaway Car” is rumoured to be about her summer fling with Tom Hiddleston. However, Swift still included her signature love songs about her new boyfriend Joe Alwyn, which were named “Dress,” “Call It What You Want To,” “Gorgeous,” and “New Year’s Day.”
“It’s definitely a different style than the old country Taylor.” Jason Ng (11) said, “But it’s a welcomed change.”
