Last week, team Canada revealed its new soccer jersey for 2024. In collaboration with Nike, the 2 designs of jerseys feature white with red stripes and shades of red. The home-kits were intended to embody a sense of unity and make a bold statement with the starking red color.

The jersey highlights the “street-style Swoosh bringing back branding made famous on Canadian jerseys of the past,” of which was described to be “Inspired by Tomorrow”.

The red-stripe on a white base design in the away-kit was not designed without thought too. According to a Canadian soccer player, the 13 stripes represent “the 10 provinces and 3 territories of the country coming together as one.”

Additionally, the jersey implements DRI-FIT ADV technology. Developed by Nike, DRI-FIT ADV was designed to reduce seams, hence allowing free movement by athletes. The product combines “moisture-wicking fabric with advanced engineering and features.” The polyester keeps athletes dry, ensuring comfortability during action. Furthermore, this is part of Nike’s “Move to Zero” waste initiative.

In 2022, team Canada received criticism as Canada was the only team without a new kit designed in preparation for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The new Canadian home-kits were first seen on the field as the Canadian men’s soccer team faced off Trinidad & Tobago on March 23, for the Concacaf Nations League. The new kits will be available for sale online starting May!
