As many of you may know, Donald Trump was just re-elected as president of the United States. His re-election brings about many feelings of fear and uncertainty for the future of Americans. In an article from the New York Times, he stated that he will immediately order mass deportations, use soldiers against citizens, and play politics with disasters. There are numerous videos with proof that he has actively spoken on various threats to bring disaster to America. Here is one thing he said, in his own words: “With your vote, we will seal the border, stop the invasion, and launch the largest deportation effort in American history.” By referring to immigration as “invasion,” he is disregarding the significance of millions of people who have come to the country. People who came with hopes, dreams, and aspirations. But it’s not just that: he is also wasting billions of dollars by deporting people who actively contribute to boosting the economy. Unfortunately, this is just one of the many horrible things that Donald Trump has been advocating for.
His main goal is to resume the harm he caused during his first term in office. He has proudly disrespected many people, often making sexist, racist, and homophobic comments. He plans on advancing climate change further, undoing Biden’s climate change efforts, and offering tax subsidies to oil, gas, and coal producers. In a time where the world desperately needs to reverse the effects of climate change and global warming, his plan would be extremely detrimental. He’s also threatened to abuse his power by leveraging the Department of Justice and other governmental organizations to only allow loyal supporters of him to work for them and charging political rivals with crimes without evidence they committed them.
But aside from Donald Trump, why is Kamala Harris the better candidate? Well, she has over 2 decades of experience working at every level of government. Locally, as a prosecutor and San Francisco district attorney; stately, as a California General attorney; and federally, as a U.S. Senator and most notably as Vice President of the United States. Having gained first-hand experience working in the government, she has demonstrated that she is more than capable of taking on the role of President of the United States.
Equally important, she has been strongly advocating for rights and policies that help the working class, including lowering taxes and making housing more affordable. She’s taken action and made detailed plans to cancel medical debt, reduce the price of prescription drugs, and ensure every woman has the rights to their own body. Harris’s plans for America are much more in-depth and beneficial than Trump’s. Despite being ambitious, they are also a lot more cost-effective. Her rallies and speeches are not about throwing around distressing statements like Trump; instead, they are about empowering Americans by providing them the resources they need to succeed.
Kamala Harris’s dedication to improving the lives of millions of Americans is one that is truly inspiring. Through her proactive campaigns, she took on a challenging journey and proudly advocated for what is right and just. She showed that she truly cares for people by connecting with them personally. She serves as an inspiration for many black women and people of colour and has done so much greatness for the world. During her Concession speech, she said, “On the campaign, I would often say when we fight, we win. But here’s the thing, sometimes the fight takes a while. That doesn’t mean we won’t win. The important thing is don’t ever give up. Don’t ever give up. Don’t ever stop trying to make the world a better place. You have power. And don’t you ever listen when anyone tells you something is impossible because it has never been done before.” Ending her campaign with a remarkable concession speech, Kamala Harris is a living definition of hope and resilience.
