The leaves are changing colours, and pumpkin spice lattes are back. With projects, tests, and assignments, it’s hard to schedule the fun of fall in and find the perfect activity that would be suitable for everyone. Do you know what you want to do, or where your friends want to go? Are you still wondering whether you’re young enough to even enjoy Halloween? Well, yes you are! Hopefully I’ll make your job a little easier and tell you all the fun activities that fall has to offer.
First off, there’s no better way to celebrate the fall season than by going out with your friends and indulging in everything pumpkin spice. I’m talking Starbucks lattes, candles, maybe even Pumpkin spice perfume if you’re really up for it. Whenever you’re stressed out from school and need to get away from reality, call your friends and head to the nearest Starbucks place you can find (unless you want to go solo, which is totally understandable) and order treats and drinks that are festive for the season.
Speaking of pumpkins, pumpkin picking speaks Halloween at its finest and it’s perfect for people of all ages . There are tons of farms in the area such as Downey’s farm market, where you can find the perfect pumpkin. It’ll be love at first sight!

For all you adventurous, thrill seeking people, Halloween Haunt happens every Friday-Sunday from September 31st to October 31st. Grab a ticket, schedule a day, and prepare to get scared. Rides, zombies, scary mazes, it screams Halloween so much that not even the cheesy actress from Scream can outdo the intensity of Halloween Haunt. However, if you do go, I strongly advise you to be safe as Canada’s Wonderland is a big amusement park, so take precautions. Remember to call your mom at some point and get a safe ride home.
That being said, there are also plenty of other frightening events happening within the city, such as the Legends of Horror in Casa Loma, from 7 p.m-midnight. Basically, it’s an immersive theatrical interpretation of all the classic horror figures in a 1.5 hour walk around the castle. Last but not least, if you’re into zombies, this last idea is going to sweep you off your feet! On October 29 th, Toronto’s west side community is going to be hosting its annual Toronto Zombie Walk. In a safe community for all ages, you will meet at McCormick park and just look frighteningly beautiful in your best zombie costume. If you’re not into costumes, you can do other fun things such as the 17th Annual Night of Dread at Dufferin Grove Park. All you have to do is wear black and white clothing and parade all around downtown. If you’re really feeling the spirit, masks and puppets will be available to wear.
I’m going to go on a cliche, pull a Drake and say, you only live once. You’re a teenager, make the most of your last years in high school. Halloween is the PERFECT time to just wind down and have fun, completely forgetting about all your obligations. However, make sure you stay safe! If all of these ideas don’t sound very appealing, it’s ok to hand out candy from home and watch a scary movie with your friends. I would recommend “The Nightmare on Elm Street” since it is a classic and it definitely is worth the watch. Or if you want to keep it less gory, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” works too. All in all, let the fun of Halloween commence!
