Vengeance

Remember why you are here. The heroes, your allies, had abandoned you when you needed them the most.

As I headed down the hall towards the meeting, a familiar voice greeted me.

“Hey Future, how you doing?” That was The Magnificent Demon Slayer, aka Scrub. He had chosen his hero name in hopes of seeming cool and predictably, got made fun of. I slid on a friendly mask.

“Doing well Scrub, you?”  I hated the entire Hero association. I thought back to what happened and adrenaline started coursing through my body.

I had just received my hero certificate and was heading into my first mission. My chosen hero name was Regressor. I could turn back time, up to a day. This made me really powerful and helped me to come out on top of my hero training class. The only downside was that I had to bite my tongue, which made using this skill very challenging. Many of my classmates were envious and even angry about my power. They accused me of cheating and other unsavoury things. Yet, I still kept an optimistic view of my future. I was sure that once I became a hero, I would be able to save many people and see all the smiling faces.

My first mission was to apprehend the infamous Dark Knights. This villain group had been a thorn in the side of the Hero association for a very long time. Yet there were barely any attempts to get rid of them. I thought that this mission was quite an odd one considering we were just newbies and the villain group had been around for years. Nevertheless, I didn’t complain and went along with my new teammates. The plane ride there had been a quiet and awkward one. I attributed this to everyone being anxious about what was going to happen. When we got there, we were split up to explore the building. As I went through, I had a bad gut feeling about what was about to happen.

Suddenly, the wall next to me burst open and I was flung down to the ground. It was the villain! A masked figure stood on top of me and forced a gag into my mouth. Several shadowy figures stood around peering down at me. How do they know about my restriction? The only people who know are the top administrators of the association. To my horror, as I looked closer, the figures around were my teammates. I tried to spit the gag out but it was firmly attached to my mouth.

“Sorry kid, nothing personal, the top brass were intimidated by you.” The figure on top of me raised his blade and plunged it into my chest.

I shot up panting in my bed. Huh, aren’t I dead? I looked at the date, it was the day I started Hero training. I must have turned back time all the way to before everything happened. I headed to the academy and stood at the entrance. I looked up to the King’s office.

I swear I will destroy you, even if it’s the last thing I do.

Present

I gritted my teeth and forced myself to calm down. I couldn’t afford to blow my cover now, after all I did to climb up the ranks.

Among the generic viagra line list of main ingredients with Provillus is referred to as Minoxidil 5% it happens to most men that they lose erection or fail to associate cycling with their problems in the bedroom. “Good,” Scrub responded, “What a time to have a meeting, am I right?”

“What? We have meetings every Wednesday.”

“Oh right yea,” Scrub laughed anxiously. I put up my guard. Why is he acting so suspicious, does he know the plan?

I had gathered other hero haters to attack the association during this meeting. As we neared the meeting hall, I messaged them to be on standby. Scrub dashed forwards and opened the door. I braced myself to bite down on my tongue.

“Surprise!” Confetti flew at my face. As it cleared, standing in front of me were all the people I had saved.

“W-What is this?” I stammered, genuinely confused.

“It’s a celebration to commemorate your promotion.” Said the King.

Hatred flared up in me.

“Celebration?” I asked, only just covering up my fierce feelings.

A little girl hugged me,  “Thank you for saving us from the bad guys. You are my favourite hero!”

Everyone smiled and Scrub exclaimed, “Let the party get started!”.

I was at a loss for words. To me, the heroic acts I performed were just that, acts. But evidently, they had impacted people in many ways. I remembered my childhood dream of saving people, and how that had been lost in my wrathful quest for revenge. I teared up while sending a message:

Mission has been cancelled, I’ll give details tonight.

For now, I would savour the dream that I once had.
