The Super Bowl Halftime Show happened on Sunday, February 4, 2018. It took place at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Justin Timberlake was the featured performer. He has performed twice before at the Super Bowl- in 2001 with his band NSYNC, and once in 2004 as a guest artist. Timberlake sang a variety of his hits, from his latest single“Filthy” to the 2002 hit “Cry Me a River.” Timberlake also paid tribute to the late Prince, a Minneapolis native, who passed away in 2016. He sang a duet with a footage of Prince to “I Would Die 4 You.”
“I just wanted to use that opportunity to do something special for this city, but most of all, for my favourite musician of all time.” Justin Timberlake said on The Late Night Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Timberlake’s performance was backed by the University of Minnesota Marching Band, who had more than 300 members. When they did not perform, some members served as dancers or fans.
“Personally I’m not the biggest fan of football, but I loved the energy and vibe of the Halftime Show,” said Rhea Varghese (11), “everyone coming together to enjoy themselves and the spirit of the game through music and pure joy.”
