This year, Social Justice Council held their first event, the “We Scare Hunger” food drive from November 1st to November 10th.

In this event, students were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items, such as canned goods and granola bars, by placing them inside a designated box in their first-period class. Many students also donated other important items such as tissue boxes and toothpaste.

Thanks to the generosity of the St. Robert community, over 1700 food items were donated and given to Richmond Hill Food Bank to support individuals in our community. This number was higher than in previous years. The homeroom with the most donations was Ms. Facchini’s first-period class.

Food drives are important, as they help to support individuals experiencing food insecurity to access the very basic need of food. Food is collected through donations and redistributed to those in need. Donating food is a great way to give back to our community.
