On November 6, 2021, Netflix aired its new animated series Arcane. The series was first announced at the League of Legends’ 10th-anniversary celebration. It was meant to serve as a prequel to the popular League of Legends. It is set in the same universe and retells the origin stories of multiple characters. Familiar characters such as Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, Ekko, Viktor, Singed, Heimerdinger, Jayce, and Ryze from League of Legends are seen in Arcane.
This impressive and expansive world is introduced right from the start, full of history and lore. Arcane centers around the tensions and social unrest in Zaun, where the living conditions are harsh and threatened due to Piltover’s brutality, and the topside Piltover region.
Arcane has received much praise for its animation, voice-acting, and storyline, and has consistently found itself on the Top 10 list for Netflix streamers. Setting the record for Netflix’s highest-rated series within a week of its premiere, Arcane has already been announced for a post-2022 release that is currently in production. Congratulations are also set for Arcane’s most recent achievement of hitting a full 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes; a rare sight to come across.
To end the season, Arcane left off on a heart-wrenching note, yet left its viewers with satisfaction. With its high popularity, fans will certainly be waiting with high expectations on the edge of their seats to binge the incoming season.
