On Wednesday, October 31st, Arts Council at St. Robert held many Halloween themed events, one of them being the pumpkin decorating contest.

On the November 8, over 40 St. Robert students participated in the Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC), held in the library after school. Organized by the math department with the support of math club leaders, this is the first time this event is being hosted at our school.

On October 31st, the students of St. Robert Catholic High School celebrated Halloween, which is the eve of All Saint’s Day. Halloween is celebrated in order to pay homage to saints that have passed away, which explains the name of the celebration, as “hallow” translates to saints.

Although we may not realize it, our world is full of tragic events that occur on a daily basis, which is why the Social Justice Council is here at St.Robert. This council is available to anyone of any grade to join. Meetings are once a month, held on Mondays. Social Justice Council also hosts fundraisers and events, such as ThinkFast and Espresso Self, in order to raise money and help out those in need.

On October 9th, 10th, 11th, and 16th, grade 11 and some grade 10 IB students taking religion this semester went on a field trip to various places of worship around the community including a Presbyterian Church, a Jewish Synagogue, an Islamic Mosque, and a Buddhist temple. They were guided around the places by religious leaders such as priests or rabbis in order to learn more about different belief systems.

On Thursday, October 25th, in the large gym, over 800 students attended one of the two awards assembly sessions to celebrate student academic achievement for the 2017-2018 school year.

The Environmental Council has taken up the initiative of collecting stationery, such as used pens, crayons, and markers, from the students at St. Robert.
