Love is in the Air

The week leading up to Thursday, February 14th, or Valentine’s Day, the St. Robert CHS student body sedulously worked to make the day of love special.

Thus goes the first verse of the infamous Queen song, “Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy”.   Indeed, with Valentine’s day approaching, STR’s Student Council (STUCO) planned two separate sales to encourage spirit: Matchmakers and Rose sales.

The Matchmakers’ survey was an online questionnaire designed to provide participants with results that would determine their “matches”.  The results for Matchmakers’ were sold for $2 on February 13-14.  Many students eagerly took part in the survey and bought their results, which showed people they normally would not talk to.

The Rose sale was a separate event planned by Student Council in collaboration with the French Council, giving students the option to pre-order roses and have them sent to someone else on Valentine’s day.  Roses and a Hershey’s Kiss cost $2.50.

No matter how you spent your Valentine’s Day, with a companion or not, STUCO reminded students that despite the stress of an inchoate semester, relaxing and shifting one’s attention to real-world relationships is always beneficial.
