This year, Anti-Bullying Week took place from Monday, November 13 to Friday, November 17. It is an annual event that aims to spread awareness of bullying amongst young people. Many of St Robert’s councils and clubs created activities that support this important week.
On Thursday, November 16th, the student council organized an event, titled Nice Notes. Throughout all three lunches, members of the student council would be stationed outside of the cafeteria with a table where students could write and receive kind notes. On the same day, athletic council members were located outside of the cafeteria where students could take pictures with tattoos and posters with kind messages.
The Empowered Student Partnership (ESP) club did a few things for this event as well. They created a paper chain and hung it around the balcony of the main foyer. Each chain had a positive message written on it. This club also took pictures of students around the school with sunglasses that had the words, Be kind, Speak out, and Bully free written on them to spread awareness of bullying.
There were many different actions taken by St Robert’s clubs and councils which were all successful in making the general topic of anti-bullying more known. Students are spreading awareness in ways that they can and should be proud of their initiative.
