Let’s set the mood for changing seasons with film recommendations that remind you of the time of the year when nature truly shows her beauty.

  1. Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls are just the perfect show for those who crave the reliable rigidity of the school year as fall feels like a rebirth! Rory’s transition from public school to the prestigious Chilton is similarly followed, exploring her desire to attend an Ivy League college and work as a foreign correspondent. The show’s social commentary is most prominently shown in Lorelai’s tense relationship with her wealthy, appearance-obsessed parents, Emily and Richard Gilmore, and in the interactions and relationships between the students at Chilton, and later, Yale University. Rory Gilmore played by Alexis Bledel dramatically transforms from an introvert who spends her time with books and her family to one who is more outgoing and risky throughout the seven seasons.

  1. Gossip Girl

Fall is the GG season, Gilmore Girls and Gossip Girl! Situated in the Upper East Side of New York, the wealthy and connected try to deal with their dramatic love lives, all while picking colleges. Blair Waldorf goes to prep school and likes to attend fancy parties with her friends. Plus, she is expected to attend Yale and she has a charming boyfriend named Nate Archibald, which all contribute to her adversaries’ perceptions of her as having a perfect life. Her seemingly idealistic life is turned upside down when her former best friend, the lovely Serena van der Woodsen, returns to town after being expelled from boarding school. Serena reappears in her life, attracting Blair’s boyfriend’s attention and when all Blair knows crumbles, everyone will see that her life is far from ideal. Will this fake facade reveal that the wealthy are just as troubled as the less wealthy?

3. 10 Things I Hate About You

With the movie once again commencing the return of the school year, Julia Stiles’ portrayal of Kat Stratford makes her a distinctive character. She is attractive, intelligent, and most of her peers consider her to be quite abrasive, thus she doesn’t draw many boys. House rules state that Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), Kat’s younger sister, cannot date until Kat has a boyfriend, therefore efforts are made to set her up in a relationship. Will Kat let her guard down to be charmed by the handsome Patrick Verone (Heath Ledger), a handsome newcomer?

4. Little Women

Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy grow up with their mother in somewhat less privileged surroundings while their father is away fighting in the Civil War. They are a close-knit family, however, conflicts and tragedies are bound to occur. But the relationship endures even after later-arriving male friends start to join the family. The story narrates the sisters’ journey of growing up, finding love, and finding their place in the world.

As the weather gets colder, hopefully, these shows are the ultimate warm blanket for you!
