Grade 8 Academic Virtual Open House

This year, St. Robert CHS held our annual open house on YouTube Livestream on November 2nd at 7 PM to welcome incoming students and their families.

The open house began with an address from our principal, Ms. Dharmai. “The St. Robert community importantly offers a space where every student is valued, supported and included”, she said.

Ms. Steele, a Vice-Principal and the IB coordinator, joined in congratulating the soon-to-be high school students. She shared that alongside the many programs offered, the St. Robert community is a wonderful place to learn and grow. St. Robert has been ranked among the top 20 high schools in Ontario for the past five years.

Following Ms. Steele was Ms. Karisch, our Chaplaincy Leader and a business studies teacher. She highlighted that St. Robert is committed to providing the best education possible for every student. Ms. Karisch invited parents to send their children to St. Robert, as it is a school guided by gospel values. The next speaker was Vice-Principal Mr. Chan, who discusses safety and inclusivity at St. Robert. He addressed some of the supports services offered, as well as the student government, which includes many councils.

“Thanks to the cooperation and initiatives of our student government, we have a vibrant school community,” he said. This was evidenced by the fact that over 1600 students at the school received an academic achievement award last year. 

Then, Ms. Joseph, the Head of the Guidance Department at the school, talked about course selection, registration, graduation requirements, course streams, and the Specialist High Skills Major programs. A virtual visit will be held for incoming students attending St. Robert’s feeder schools to answer any remaining questions regarding course choices and registration for the 2022-2023 school year. 

Finally, Vice-Principal Ms. Kwong discussed the registration information for the 2022-2023 school year. She discusses the school boundaries, the admission guidelines. She went on to discuss the admission process at the school. She concluded the presentation by thanking the incoming students and their families.
