The food at St Robert’s cafeteria is delectable, to say the least, but are those prices worth it? That is the question I aim to answer today.
Let’s take a look at some popular items that are served at the cafeteria. For the pizza, one slice costs $4.50, and it’s a pretty big slice. That being said, a large pizza at any pizzeria will run you anywhere from $13-16, typically containing an average of 5 cafeteria-sized slices. This means a (cafeteria-sized) slice of that pizza would cost at most $3.20. Another popular item is the cookie. These cookies cost $2. For comparison, a similarly sized, yet equally delicious cookie is available at Tim Hortons for just $1.50. Overall, these price differences aren’t enough to justify the food being overpriced.
You might be starting to get a sense of whether the food is overpriced. In the end, what matters most is not my opinion, but the community of St Robert’s. This is why I asked more than 100 students whether cafeteria food was worth it or not. A whopping 75 said the food was expensive, 12 said it was cheap, and 18 said it was reasonably priced. Even our principal, Ms. Dharmai, said that she thought cafeteria food was expensive. At the end of the day, what the cafeteria sells isn’t just food, it’s also the convenience of being able to buy food at school. Sure, you can order food wherever you are, but nothing is more convenient than what’s right there.
In conclusion, the cafeteria at St Robert has a multitude of choices every day, and we can always count on it to give us something to eat. Whether that cost is worth it or not is ultimately up to whether you value money or convenience.
