Washington Capitols team after winning against Calgary flames in a shootout

On the Capitol’s side the star player of the game is Matthew Phillips, who scored his first NHL goal and also having an assist in the same game. It is also the first win under the coach, Spencer Carbery with a 3-2 shootout victory against the Calgary Flames in the Capital One Arena

Matthew Phillips stated after the game “Obviously, it’s kind of funny that we ended up playing them the second game of the season, and it kind of happened pretty quick, yeah, it was great. Very lucky to play with some awesome players.”

At the start of the game, the Calgary Flames went guns blazing. Near the second period of the game they had a 2-0 advantage. However, after 2 goals scored by Matthew Phillips, and another scored by Connor McMichael, the game was tied. Shortly after, the game ended with a score of 3-2 after the Washington Capitals win the shootout.
