Japan’s victory over Germany surprised the world in the 2022 FIFA World Cup match on Wednesday, November 23. During the first half of the game, Germany dominated the possession and made more shots, but Japan remained optimistic and kept its cool.

Germany got 80 percent of possession in the first half of the game. Everyone thought Germany would finally win and waited for them to shoot the second score. However, Germany missed their chance, and Japan persevered. Japan continued to score more goals until the end of the game. Germany tried to get an equalizer but they failed to pass Japan’s bold defence.

Japanese fans will never forget this night! This victory is historic and will go down as one of Japan’s greatest performances in the World Cup since an Asian country defeated a European country that is even a four-time world champion. “I believe it’s a historic moment, a historic victory. If I think about the development of Japanese soccer, thinking of players, for them this was a big surprise.” said the Japanese coach, Hajime Moriyasu.

Japan deserves the credit for turning this game around. Their determination and committed attitude toward soccer allowed them to succeed. According to Moriyasu, “They’re fighting in a very strong, tough, prestigious league. They’ve been building up their strength. In that context we believe that those divisions (Bundesliga and second division) have been contributing to the development of Japanese players.”
