Rams Design Council: St. Robert’s Underground Art Department

Ever wonder who creates the artwork shown in and around St. Robert? Have you noticed that the banners and signs used to advertise and during events seem more prominent and enticing this year? Well chances are, the Design Club is largely at fault for nurturing our school’s artistic scene. Officially known as Rams Design Council, Design Club members are able to use their “artistic talents, imagination and creativity to contribute to the school community,” as described by club member Wendy Y.  Started this year by Ms. Brockest,  Art Department Head, the club is dedicated to designing different pieces of artwork, as requested by the school for special events or advertising.

Projects are assigned to members every meeting, allowing creators to come together and strive for the same artistic goal. Tasks range from digital art pieces, such as large banners needed for awards ceremonies and graduation, to the traditional canvases used during Advent, Christmas, and Easter mass. In case you’re wondering, yes, Design Council did create the amazing “Viva Las Vegas” banner used in the 2014 semi-formal. The variety and range of projects allows members to continuously build, bolster, and challenge their artistic abilities.
