Major twists on classical music are not often executed in all genres of pop, but Red Velvet returns to the 2022 K-Pop scene with an experimental sound for their title track “Feel My Rhythm”. Coincidentally released on Johann Sebastian Bach’s Birthday, March 21, “Feel My Rhythm” incorporates a creative play on a sample of classical music prodigy Bach’s “Air on the G String”. This single was a great joy for all fans, as it displayed the amazing musical production and boasted the unparalleled vocal prowess of all five members. The soulful, orchestral melodies, twists and turns in sound, paired with the ethereal-looking singers and the elegant, dazzling scenery of the music video truly did bring out the best of what Red Velvet had to showcase to the world.  read more

An Overview of the BAFTA Awards

Lights, camera, and action! Many congratulations are in order as the British Academy Film Awards kicked off this year on March 13th with many awards given out, marking the 75th ceremony since the UK’s largest celebration of film excellence started back in 1949. The long-awaited celebration held once again at London’s Royal Albert Hall welcomed back its large crowd of artists after the virtual event in 2021 caused by the pandemic. read more

The History of Batman

The DC Universe has been around for quite some time now. The fictional superhero, Batman, has made multiple appearances in the saga, but the history of this character is not an easy one, as it goes way back. Batman’s first on-screen appearance was in the 1940s, debuting in the “Batman” and “Batman and Robin” movies. This marvellous character immediately caught the attention of the media and was returned for a sequel, the 1997 “Batman and Robin”, directed by Joel Schumacher. Unfortunately, the sequel had poor reviews by critics and fans, resulting in the cancellation of the following movies.  read more

Movie Review: “Spider-Man: No Way Home”

Spider-Man, one of the world’s most famous superheroes, returned to theaters on December 17, 2021, starring Tom Holland, Tobery Maguire, and Andrew Garfield. Director Jon Watts gave fans exactly what they asked for, to bring all three Spider-Man’s to life by connecting the multiverse theory together. This film was extremely successful in box office sales, reaching nearly 1.9 billion USD.  read more

“Future Nostalgia’s” Effects on Dua Lipa’s Career

Do the lyrics “Don’t start now” or “I’m levitating” ring any bells? All that belongs to Dua Lipa’s album Future Nostalgia that was released on March 27, 2020. As one of the first major pop stars to release a new album amidst quarantine, Lipa gained quick success with it and her songs have managed to leave a lasting impact on her listeners. Even with the delay of her tours due to the pandemic, her song Levitating has proved resilient and stayed on the Hot 100 chart for 70 weeks, becoming the longest-charting song by a women on said chart. read more

The Davidson-Ye Fire Continues to Burn, But Only One Tries to Put it Out

The situation continues to escalate. Kanye West has not stopped harassing Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, leaving a bitter, unpleasant, and salty taste in online netizens’ mouths. Following months’ of enduring Ye’s cyberbullying, Pete has had enough and makes his first public response to the harassment. The diss track “Eazy”, which was released in mid-January 2022, was not even the worst of what the face of the world has seen produced from Kanye’s antics. Yet, this harassment truly got out of hand when Ye released a couple of inflammatory “art” pieces egregiously targeting and even going as far as personally threatening Pete as an individual. The first comprises of an animation of Kanye kidnapping, decapitating and burying an individual who unsettlingly resembles Pete Davidson. The second was a comic strip of sorts that was embedded with an eerie, ominous message: “Everyone lived happily ever after, except for skete you know who.” For those new to the drama, “skete” is the epithet Kanye venomously assigned to innocent Pete Davidson.  read more

A New Change: Ye and Davidson

Last week on February 15th, 2022, Kanye West, who has legally changed his name to “Ye”, made headlines with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. The rapper has not been using his platform wisely and publicly shared several screenshots of their messaging conversation, heavily offending Kim and invading her privacy. He has also created multiple posts mocking and condemning Kim’s new partner  —the “Saturday Night Live” comedian Pete Davidson. However, Ye revealed later that he has been reflecting and improving his means of communication, deeply apologizing for his actions. He says, “I know sharing screen shots was jarring and came off as harassing Kim. I take accountability. I’m still learning in real time. I don’t have all the answers. To be good leader is to be a good listener.” read more
