Potential SPOILERS AHEAD

On May 27th, 2022, part one of the fourth season of Stranger Things was released, with part two soon to be followed on July 1st. This season was a big jump from the last, as episode run times are now longer and characters are further from each other throughout the storyline. This ensures that all the characters are getting enough screen time, making it seem balanced and not as though they are fighting for the spotlight. From bouncing between a powerless Eleven to Joyce planning to rescue Hopper to Upside Down issues in Indiana, each character gets their own allotted time during each episode.

Within the newly released season, the most talked-about episode so far is Chapter 4: Dear Billy. Sadie Sink’s performance as Max was phenomenal in this episode. It grabbed the attention of viewers, as they deemed it to be award-worthy. Max’s monologue at Billy’s grave captured the sadness of the survivor’s guilt she had pent up for so long. Her performance was the highlight of the season, some even say the best in the show. Not only was the acting brought higher by a notch, but the CGI effects also improved from an already impressive season 3. The details incorporated into the new villain are dramatic, yet terrifying. The visual effects have achieved a new level of horror in this season.

Overall, this season has done a brilliant job all around. The performances are portrayed perfectly, achieving a more sentimental connection with the audience, and the special effects are gorgeous as they outline every necessary detail. The pacing of the plot is incredible and it was well directed, as the characters seem well balanced during the hour-long episodes. Part one of season 4 has been stunning so far, but with part two coming out in a few weeks, we will have to wait and see if the finale can amaze us.
