On November 20, 2021, actor Simu Liu made his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live. To start the night, he opened with his monologue and talked about his career break with becoming the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Chinese superhero in his latest movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The American Music Awards. An unforgettable night for artists. This year’s AMAs took place on Sunday, November 21, at 8 p.m at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. Hosted by Cardi B, the exciting night would surely be a memorable one. This year, there were many special nominees at the American Music Awards, as well as winners for the different categories, with Olivia Rodrigo being the most nominated artist, followed by a handful of other successful artists, such as the Weeknd, Doja Cat, Giveon, and Bad Bunny.

Alas, the Japanese-American, Indie Rock icon Mitski has returned to the music scene since her 3-year hiatus after announcing her highly anticipated album Laurel Hill, which will be officially released in February 2022. The sequel to her 2018 album Be The Cowboy, promises, “a soundtrack for transformation, a map to the place where vulnerability and resilience, sorrow and delight, error and transcendence can all sit within our humanity, can all be seen as worthy of acknowledgment, and ultimately, love.”

The long-awaited movie Dune, directed by Denis Villeneuve, finally hit theatres on October 22 of 2021, starring Timothée Chalamet and co-star Zendaya. After fans watched the movie, many were disappointed with how short Zendaya’s screen time was, despite being a major part of Dune’s marketing campaign.

After many fans had waited for hours in a building full of thousands of other people, Travis Scott appeared ready to give the show of his lifetime, unfortunately, what was supposed to be an exciting event became an alarming crime scene. After the rapper had made his appearance, fans became wild, hoping to get closer to the rapper and started clamouring. There was no control over the pushing and shoving and in the flash of a moment, harmless acts of excitement became a suffocating environment with no escape route.

While filming the new movie Rust, starring Alec Baldwin, a tragic incident occurred on set. Baldwin misfired a prop gun, killing a woman and injuring a man on the set in New Mexico. The movie cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, was shot on set and pronounced dead after being transported by helicopter to the University of New Mexico Hospital at age 42. Director Joel Souza was also flown to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, and fortunately, survived the incident.
