On Wednesday, April 17th, 2019, students and staff of St. Robert Catholic High School were able to participate in a Lenten Mass in preparation for the upcoming Easter season.
Lent is often a time for reflection on Jesus’s sacrifices for his people, and Catholics often make the sacrifice of their own to understand Jesus’s suffering and his love more as well as develop their own faith. They are encouraged to think about their own lives and although not sombre, Lent is a solemn season in preparation for the joy of Easter.
In preparation for this Mass, the chaplaincy choir sedulously practiced their songs until they felt they had reached the calibre they were comfortable with presenting, while the rest of the chaplaincy community continued to organize and arrange the other aspects of the Mass. Students in grade 9 and 11 were able to take part in the Lenten Mass in Period 1, while those in grade 10 and 12 attended the Mass in Period 2.
As a result of diligent planning and powerful execution, both masses were a success. Students felt more prepared for the Easter season as a result. Regardless of your faith, every individual can benefit from a period of introspection and critical thought, and the Lenten Mass provided that outlet for many students at St. Robert Catholic High School.
