In February 20th, 2019, Memories, a reggae pop by Maroon 5, was the first single released in the seventh record album, Jordi. Although being listed one of the worst songs for some and a big hit for others, this song stills stands out from all the rest as it reminds us of the memories that shaped us, as well as to appreciate them instead of being mournful of the past . It was created for those who experienced loss and was made as a tribute after the unexpected death of Jordan Feldstein, the band’s manager and Levine’s friend, in 2019 which was caused by pulmonary thromboembolism.

In verse 1, the setting starts with back in the day when the singer was optimistic as the recipient was present; however, now whenever the recipient’s name is announced, he falls into deep sadness and depression as the recipient is no longer there. In verse 2, the opposite is seen as it starts with him being lost and negative, but it ends with him finding a new hope of reunifying with the recipient. When reaching the pre-chorus, he recognized the pains that life offers and expects that the situation will work for the best, and finally in the chorus, he recalls all his past memories.

The entire song is him wanting to be with the individuals which now he only has memories of. However, he is joyful despite missing them because he believes he would be with them soon. Therefore, this song has a great message to those who experienced loss.
